Cyber warefare

Here is a video, by an independent research journalism company, that demonstrates the threat of Cyber Warfare – from China off course… These days no newscast is complete without a  news about China :-)

Its time for all of us to be s smart Netizens and protect ourselves, and our nation!

The moment of truth

Every educated person on the face of the Earth knows the root cause for the terrorism in India. India always tolerated violence, terrorism and opted for a peaceful and diplomatic solution. India proved every single time that the roots of terrorism in India start from ISI in Pakistan. Pakistan army is specially trained to aid the militants in carrying out the destruction in India.

All the money Pakistan receives as aid from various sources is spent more on creating trouble in India than on empowering Pakistani nationals to live a better life…. But the world needs proof. The idiot politicians in USA provided Pakistan with billions of dollars to empower it to defeat USSR and then to fight against terrorism. Well these things remain only on papers. I doubt if a single penny was spent for the purpose.

While I am not against Pakistan or Pakistanis, I think at least US politicians should have held Pakistan accountable for every penny they provided them. Considering the reputation of Pakistan, US gov should have had kept close eye on where the money is flowing… But no. Pakistan is an ally. And believe me this is the same Pakistan government that is helping militants to kill American soldiers. The gov, ISI, military are under the hood coordinating to carry out the jihad. And they use these funny names like – North West Frontier Province. What is this fucking crap?

Well by now you must be thinking this post is useless, this guy is just bluffing, a hate post maybe.

But no, I know everybody needs a solid proof (read “a proof by Western world institutions, govenement, army etc”). So here you go:

1. Proof that Pakistan’s ISI is indeed helping the militants in Afganistan: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/30/world/asia/30pstan.html?scp=1&sq=ISI+militant&st=nyt

2. Proof that Pakistan’s ISI helped militants carry out the deadly suicide bomb attack at Indian embassy in Kabul: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/01/world/asia/01pstan.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

Wake up people!

And yes I wrote this post due to some emotional influence – I agree. But come on when someone from your friends, colleagues, fellow citizens has to loose his/her life for no reason then you get hurt. If not then I doubt if you are a Human being.

In the last week of July, 3 major cities in India were rocked by bomb blasts by these fucking jihadis.

July 25 – 6 blasts – Bangalore, Karnataka

July 26 – 17 blasts – Ahmedabad, Gujrat

July 27 – 5 bombs (recovered before blast) – Surat, Gujrat

Every year, there are at least 10 bombings across India, reaulting in hundreds of casualties. And these are not lives lost in a war on some border. These lives are lost during their daily commute to work, at school, hospital etc. How can someone be live normal life under these circumstances?

Yep, you read it right. During the Beijing Olympics 2008, China will be showcasing a feat at how smartly they have oppressed her own people and deprived them of their basic Human Rights

Our treasures

Some 10 years ago I first heard the word — Modi — the Modi script, thanks to a land dispute at my native place. We had to refer to a year 1887 document and it was written in Modi script. That document was very important to my family… but the problem was nobody knew how to understnd and interpret it. Fortunately, there was this very very very old guy in an adjacent village who happened to know Modi, and rest is history… sort of; I mean we won the case.

I don’t want you to tell you about the case. What I want to tell you is hundreds of thousands of documents related to our (Marathi) history (school leaving certificates, administrative documents, etc) are written in Modi script. And there are very few people who know the script. I remember a newspaper ad 5 years back by Government of Maharashtra seeking help from whoever knows and understands Modi.

But, but then there is Internet, Orkut… I stumbled upon this community on Orkut where a bunch of enthusiasts are learning and spreading the wod about Modi and as you might have guessed I have already become a member :) . I also found this very interesting and useful website related to some of the ancient languages and scripts across the world.

Hope you find this information useful.

Food recognition

No, no, no it is not a new science, field or topic. It is a problem I face when I visit a new restaurant specializing in a cuisine I haven’t tested yet. I am sure many of you might have faced this problem. I always find it hard to order food I have never heard about or seen before; be it Thai, Mediterranean, etc. To add to the poblem I always like to try something new, so I order the dish which sounds weirdest and/or which my friends, colleagues haven’t ordered yet :( . Many a times I end up not so happy, if not disappointed. But if I can see the food then I am sure I will score max in terms of ordering right dish. So here is one of such experiences.

I was entering cafeteria during lunch hour, I know its not a restaurant but my company cafeteria can certainly give a run to many restaurants both in terms of variety of food and taste, just when this hot entree caught my attention. It was full of cheese, nicely stuffed with ____, garnished with hot tomato sauce, served with equally appealing Mexican Rice….yummmyyyyyy. I knew I had to have eat it otherwise I would have felt guilty rest of the day. So I asked the lady what it was and what were the ingredients, etc. She told me it was some “Anche lado” a Mexican dish. Since I was too eager to please my taste buds with the stuff, I hardly heard the name. I went ahead, picked a nice window-side table and munched on the delicacies. Let me tell you the entusiasm was worth it, it was too delicious. Logically it was similar to Dosa -a south Indian dish – but with lots of cheese, ____, and spicy tomato sauce. The Mexican rice reminded me of Khichdee, a typical Maharashtrian Rice Dish. So all in all it was a delicious experience.

After finishing it I proceeded to payment counter. Just when I handed my debit card I realized that I had forgot the name of the dish and so I asked this gentleman about it by pointing to it. He quickly told me that it is ”Anche lado” and I was happy again, trying not to forget the name. While handing me the receipt the gentleman(?) dropped the bomb shell. He asked “Sir, how did you eat the dish without knowing its name?”. Smart ass.

So not only identifying and ordering good food is a big task but also you MUST remember what you ate :-)

 P.S. Don’t ask me what “____” is.

Dirty tactics

We all know that big corporations use dirty tactics to gain advantage in market, to dwarf their rivals. The latest in case: Microsoft and Intel.

Both companies allegedly forced affiliated vendors to use their own products, punished and trapped them (economically) for being unbiased with their rivals. Both companies are facing lawsuits at various courts for the charges.

Here you can find the frustration of Microsoft’s own executives regarding Vista and how their voices were suppressed using dirty tactics.

Vista sucks.

I was looking for Vista wallpapers to use on my other laptop with Windows XP. I quickly googled (I know I could have used flash drive to copy wallpapers from Vista laptop to XP laptop but I was too lazy ;-) ) Vista wallpapers, and then came a long list of wallpapers hosted on unknown sites. Since I am very much concerned about security and integrity of my laptops and workdesk, I was not willing to visit any unknown site. Also I couldn’t find a single album on flickr and picasa with all Vista wallpaers.

Then somehow I stumbled upon this site: http://www.hamaddarwish.com/. You won’t believe, but it is the site of the person WHO HAS ACTUALLY photographed all of the Windows Vista wallpapers. So you get all those wallpapers at one place, for FREE, without worrying about spyware.

And here is the most important thing. At this site you can see lot more photos which couldn’t make it to Vista wallpaper list, and some other fabulous creations of Hamad.

Open Office

I think I have gotten into the habit of using catchy subjects :-)

I bought a laptop in December last year and so I returned my company laptop. My laptop came with a trial copy of My MS Office 2007 which expired on Feb 29, 2008. Since I am a project co-ordinator I have to prepare and maintain various documents, reports, charts, etc to make my boss happy. So I had two choices: either ship my laptop (with gigs of personal data) to company office or buy an Offcie Suite. Option 1 was not an option at all. And option 2 was expensive. MS Office 2007 Pro costs hard earned USD 300 :-) .

So I decided to lookout for some open source alternative which is reliable. In less than a minute my quest ended at OpenOffice.org. Not only the does the suite have all the basic and most advanced functionalities but also it is fully compatible with MS Office 2003. The suit is small, reliable and supports loads of formats including export to PDF. Isn’t it cool?

So I would recommed all you guys to go for OpenOffice suite and save those bucks. In fact my organization has decided to have an organization-wide implementation of OpenOffice.

Human footprint

I cam across thi interesting video which states that if Humans become extinct on Earth then after several hundred thousand years, there would be no Human footprint of Humans on earth. And when I say footprint then it doesn’t meanthe skeletons of Humans, it means man-made structures, monuments, statues, artifacts etc…

So where will some alien species find Human footprint…??? Any guess??? its Moon!!!
